weather 24-7 forecast. good morning i'm cassandra jones with fox5. skies will remain mostly sunny with northerly breezes blowing across southern nevada. the strongest wind will remain focused along the colorado
7:02 am
gusts up to 35 mph are forecast for the laughlin area through 5pm tonight high temperatures will be pushing 79 degrees thursday afternoon. we'll see a few high clouds at times friday as showers develop over arizona; all of that rain will stay off to our east. temperatures remain mild with highs around 80 starting friday through the middle of next week. no rain is in the las vegas forecast over the next 7 days. here is a look at your drive here are the accidents to watch out and alternate routes you can use listed on our maps here are the construciton areas to look out for and alternate routes listed on our maps back to the news desk. it took 108 years... 10 innings.. and a rain delay..

10 innings.. and a rain delay.. but the curse has been broken.. and your co- worker from chicago is probably calling in sick this morning. after coming back from a 3-to-1 the cubbies get off to a great start in game 7. dexter fowler hits a solo homer in the top of the first. on just the 4th pitch making him the first player to ever lead off a winner-take-all world series game with a homerun. chicago ran up a big lead.. as 39-year-old david ross becomes the oldest man to hit a homerun in a world series game

career. the tribe didn't go down without a fight though.. cleveland ties it up against the cubs closer.. with 3 runs in the bottom of the 8-th. then to make the now nail-biter even more intense.... the grounds crew brings out the tarp. and fans have to suffer through a rain delay! after less than 20 minutes the game was back on.. the cubbies get a couple of great hits and take the lead by 2 runs.. then.. bottom of the 10-th with the indians down 8 to 7.. las vegas native -- 24-year-old kris bryant -- gets the final out of the night.. "oh man.. i knew it was fast, i knew i had to get rid of it.. it's wet out here.. longest game ever.. it's one of the best games you'll ever see." the bonanza high school grad can barely gather his

cloud over their championship dreams. fox5's peter dawson is live in studio with the best cursed teams from around the world. chicago's curse of the billy goat is over. but other teams from around the world are still waiting for their dark clouds to dissipate. i found some "interein curses from around the globe. in 1985, japanese baseball's hanshin tigers were in the finals when fans decided to through a statue of colonel sanders into the river. the tigers lost the finals and for 18 years they've finished in last place. fans have since found the missing statue from it's watery grave in hopes of breaking the curse. in 1895 english football's derby county forced some gypsies off their land to build their stadium
7:07 am
that lasted fifty years. in 1946, during the final game with the score tied 1-1 a derby team representative beg the gypsies for forgiveness and the ball literally burst apart on the field. the derby's would win the game 4-1. and back here at home the pottsville maroons won the nfl championship in 1925 against the chicago cardinals but the nfl stripped their title after the maroons played an exhibition game against the wishes of the nfl commissioner. the people of pottsville put a curse on t cardinals and it seems to have followed the team from chicago to st. louis and now to arizona. players have their own superstition. jason giambi would wear a golden thong when he was in a hitting slump. hockey great patrick roy would skate backwards and talk with his goal posts and wade boggs would eat chicken before each game and take batting practice at 5:17. long story short players and teams will do anything to win no matter
